(Reuters) – Assa Abloy (OTC:) AB stated on Friday it’ll promote its Yale and Emtek lock manufacturers, and U.S. and Canada residential companies to Fortune Manufacturers (NYSE:) Residence & Safety in an $800 million all-cash deal, because it seeks to overturn U.S. antitrust opposition to its buy of a unit of Spectrum.

Earlier this yr, the U.S. Justice Division had sued to dam a $4.3-billion proposed deal by Assa Abloy, the world’s No.1 lockmaker, to purchase the {hardware} and residential enchancment (HHI) division of Spectrum Manufacturers Holdings (NYSE:) Inc that makes residential door {hardware}, because the deal signed final yr might result in greater costs.

Reuters had reported in October that Assa Abloy was working to promote its Emtek and good residential enterprise in the US to resolve U.S. antitrust points which can be holding up a deliberate acquisition.

Assa Abloy stated the residential companies outdoors of the US and Canada will not be in scope to be divested.
